Thesis Statement

The creation of the implantable cardiac pacemaker is one of the most significant inventions in medical history. Created by Wilson Greatbatch in 1958 at his home in Buffalo, New York, the invention broke the barrier of primitive technology and has saved millions of lives around the world. The cardiac pacemaker generates electrical impulses, delivered by electrodes to contract the heart muscles and regulate the electrical conduction system that the heart contains.
